'Customer insight'
Van der Deijl Import
For this edition of 'Customer insight', we visited the family business Van der Deijl Import, where a passion for roses and entrepreneurship go hand in hand.
In the video below, Rob Brussee and Geraldine van der Deijl explain how their company has evolved over the past decades from a traditional line trader into an international player with their own nurseries.
From import to sales
Van der Deijl Import, formerly known as Van der Deijl Roses, made its name by importing and processing large-flowered quality roses. What started in the Netherlands has grown into a strong import stream from Ecuador, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and more recently, Kenya. Their assortment has also expanded — in addition to roses, they now import summer flowers as well. Throughout all these years, their mission has remained the same: delivering quality with personal service.
Every step in the workflow at Van der Deijl Import is tightly organized. Upon arrival, the products are immediately processed in Florisoft, after which they are prepared for sale — via dock service, production, and sorting — whether for auction, by phone, or through their own online webshop.
Innovative techniques
It’s remarkable to see that Van der Deijl is one of the first companies to process roses using a ‘terra sleeve machine’: a technique already known in tulip processing but still innovative in the world of roses.

A valuable partnership of over 25 years
For Florisoft, Van der Deijl Import is a ‘golden hour client.’ As our very first importer-grower — at the time still an unfamiliar branch for us — we worked together to develop new solutions to support their workflows. This valuable partnership, now over 25 years strong, has played a significant role in the growth and development of both companies and once again proves the power of good collaboration.
